There has been a lot of discussion in here regarding Ready Player Me, Player Zero and the future. Last week I said I would post some more information about the path forward so here we are.
Firstly, there are no plans to close down Ready Player Me access for existing partners. Your games and apps should still function as they have done previously and should any features eventually be discontinued you would receive ample notice and support from myself and the wider team to keep your game/app functioning as it currently is.
We have however closed sign-ups for new partners and the reason for this is down to our new focus on Player Zero. For developers, there will be a new SDK in the near future that will allow you to integrate our Player Zero avatars into your game. I won’t go into details too much here as we are ironing things out and I can share more in a separate post plus there will be announcements across our socials.
But Player Zero builds on the existing technology and gets us closer to our company mission of building bridges between virtual worlds. This was always at the heart of Ready Player Me and we are excited to be making the next step.
For Ready Player Me SDK’s, these are in a decent state and will only receive crucial bug fixes moving forward. The SDK’s are Open Source and we do encourage you to take advantage of this should there be a feature you want to add or improvement you wish to make.
If you have any questions pop them in the thread and I will do my best to get back to everyone as soon as I can.
Thank you for the update! I am excited for the future.
However, I am still not able to sign into my account since I get the message
Your account is not valid for Ready Player Me Developer Studio.
I signed up a while ago and was in the process of setting up the connections but had to take an untimely break until last week. Does my absence mean that I will no longer be able to participate and build with ReadyPlayerMe at this time?

Why couldn’t you drop registration at RPM Studio dev tools when all this SDK you’re talking about is written, debugged, tested, deployed and entirely ready to launch with none of negative side effects for unity/unreal/something apps compared to RPM Studio (e.g. have ability to upload custom models and so on…)?
Hi @Tom_RPM Thanks for the update. I do have one question though: Can you confirm that current partners will still be able to use the Asset Creator and add new assets to the Asset Manager? In our case this is a critical feature as we need to add new assets all the time. If you are going to drop this feature as well, we better start looking for an alternative avatar provider.
Unfortunately, instead of helping developers and new users to create and share their avatars, you are closing the doors in front of everyone.
You come here on the forum and say that everything is going to be wonderful and that you are working hard on it, so don’t change the version until you have the new one ready, that alone would help a lot.
Now what’s really happening today is you taking away all access to RPM and driving the entire community crazy, without any support.
Unfortunately, I don’t believe a single word you say here, you say one thing and show it with completely different actions.
I am currently working to remove RPM from my platform as I cannot continue taking this risk, you are now an unstable and unreliable platform, I believe for everyone here.
This is the same effect that Unity had a few years ago, they made changes to the platform without consulting their users and DEVs and this caused thousands of people to stop using this program, unfortunately you are heading towards this.
I come here to warn everyone not to waste their time believing in empty words, but rather in good deeds thinking about their users.
Here is my indignation and note as Dev of non-approval of how these changes are being carried out.
At the moment this is not an option as we are partnering with brands & IP owners to release collections. Inside Ready Player Me you can still do this with Asset Manager
Hi Tom, I never got any feedback on my concerns/questions in the original post. Considering your support email is no longer being monitored, I would love to get some help regarding some of these missing features.
I have a client right now that I had recommended RPM to for avatars. The fact that the existing solution doesn’t allow sign-ups any more and the new one has an unknown release date has ruined any good will I could build with them about the platform. Simply put, they don’t trust that the service will be there when they need it since it’s not there now either. This has led them to pursue other avenues for avatar creation - which I think is REALLY unfortunate.
Hey, can you tell me what they use instead? I can’t sogn up for an account but i need a solution like this to work in unity, can you maybe help?
Thanks a lot

I just integrated with a RPM solution provider that withdraw support of RPM today. They recommend others. No Timely roadmap for Player Zero puts me and others in an awkward situations.
