Hey everyone! I wanted to take a moment to share some clarity and address a few of the questions that have come up.
I’m Kaspar, one of the co-founders of Ready Player Me. I’ve been building this company with Haver, Rainer, and Timmu for over 10 years and we’re deeply appreciative of your support for the Ready Player Me vision.
We launched our developer tools for a plug-and-play avatar customization system four years ago, and the response has been incredible. It became the backbone of our ecosystem, powering thousands of games and virtual experiences. Now, we’re expanding on that foundation with a new product: a true hub for players to customize their avatars and discover games to use them in. We call it PlayerZero.
The goal of PlayerZero is to sell wearables to players and share the revenue with game developers based on how players’ using their wearables in their games. We want to do our part to support the gaming industry we love by providing a new channel for acquisition and revenue.
Earlier this year, we temporarily paused new signups for Ready Player Me to give the team space to focus on a new direction for our vision. However, everyone who already had an account was able to log in without any issues. At the same time, we open-sourced the SDK so anyone is free to build on top of it and develop the features they need. We’ll continue to provide the support to maintain the platform as well.
We have reopened signups for new users and will continue to support the RPM ecosystem with this forum. We want it to be a place where we can be transparent, answer questions directly, and involve the community in the process. It also creates space for builders like you to help each other—a true community.
Let’s keep building the future of open gaming together.
